Online Play on Friday Nights

The Hult Chess Club will meet every Friday night at 6:30 on Zoom with a 7pm tournament on chess.com. We will be letting the chess.com computer do the pairings.

You will be getting an email invite to the Zoom meeting. If you aren't getting our invitations for the meetings, email Murrel (murrel@gmail.com) and he will put you on the mailing list. Or you can just use the link provided below. We will update the link every week.

Registration starts at 6pm, but the games won't start until 7pm on Friday. See you online soon!

Monday Night Adult Chess Club

Please Note: The Kingsmen Monday night adult chess club now meets at the Life Together Center (formerly the Great Central Insurance Bldg) at Sheridan & War Memorial 7 to 11pm. (Click here to see location on a map). Young players with ratings of 1000 or more are welcomed. The Kingsmen chess club will be closed throughout the duration of the lock down which is currently through the end of May.

Hult Chess Club Meetings

Hult Chess Club meets every Friday night from 6:30 to 8:30 pm in the community room of the Schnucks Supermarket at University & Glen in Peoria. When leaving, please remember we are the guests of the grocery store and there will be no running or causing commotion in the store.

The club is for K-12 youngsters in Peoria and surrounding Central Illinois areas. Sets, boards and clocks are provided. Activities range from small tournaments to instruction to puzzles and commentary.


  • Who: Youth from Pre-K to 12th grade
  • What: Chess club run by youth, administered by adults
  • Where: Schnucks Supermarket, University and Glen
  • When: Friday nights from 6:30-8:30
  • Why: Every youth should belong to at least one club.
  • How much: We ask a $1 donation per youth. The donation is entirely voluntary. We do not monitor the donations; it is more important for the kid to come and play. The money stays in the club and is used for player development.

Follow What is Happening in the Chess World

We have started a new online chess newspaper called Zwischenzug Times which will keep you up to date on chess ocally and throughout the world. It will also have stories and chess puzzles. A new edition comes out every Wednesday or maybe even more often when major chess news is made.

Private Chess Lessons Available

Private Chess lessons from Hult coaches Murrel and Patrick are now being scheduled at Peoria Library North on weekends and Starbucks in the Grand Prairie Mall after the library closes and Wednesday evenings. Individual 1 hour sessions are available from 5pm to 9pm these nights. Lessons are geared to the individual and content is dependent on the players experience and skill level.

See Murrel, Patrick or David for further details and time slot availability. Time slots are currently available on Wednesday evening and some slots on weekends.
