2nd Annual Riverview Grade School Chess Tournament

When: Saturday, January 7th, 2016

Where: Riverview Grade School 1421 Spring Bay Road, East Peoria, IL 61611, Phone: (309) 822-8550 / Fax: (309) 822-8414

Time: Check in 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. First round starts 9:00 a.m. The rounds will probably wrap up in the early afternoon – with awards ceremony shortly thereafter.

It will be a Swiss style tournament, consisting of four (4) rounds for each division. Awards will be presented to the top finishers in each level. We may do team awards as well (I’ll let you know).

Separate tournaments will be run for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades with each student playing students from their appropriate grade. Students can “play up” to 5th grade if they are younger than 5th. IESA rules apply. This is not a rated tourney. Coaches will be on the floor to assist payers. Parents can view the games from the bleachers, but may not communicate with their children during play at the risk of disqualifying that player.

Note: All players are required to record their games with notation. We will provide notation sheets and pencils if you do not have any available.

What you need to bring: STATE CHESS BOARDS and accompanying pieces (at least 1 for every 2 players) Chess clock (if available, 1 for every 2 players) set at 30 minutes with a 5 second delay Money (concessions will be available for breakfast and lunch) Items for entertainment and relaxation (Books, games, music, cards) Notation sheet and pencil (we will provide them if you don’t have them)

Registration: I will need from coaches: Name, grade level, and school by Thursday, Jan. 5th Make checks payable to Riverview Grade School, and cash is accepted the day of contest Payment can be made the day of the tournament Upon check in we will assign each school a classroom for their skittles location Gameplay will take place in the gym
