Activities

We will divide into 2 sections. The first section begins at the start - Finding Double Attacks, Forks, Pins, Skewers, etc. This class is appropriate for Beginner through Intermediate players.

The second section for Jr High and players with ratings 900 and above will work on Lev Alburt's 300 Positions. Alburt is a famed international Grandmaster and chess coach. He asserted that if you know and recognize these 300 positions and can play them appropriately, you will be of Candidate Master strength (ie over 2000 in ELO terms).

If you attended any of our workshops you know what to expect - Lively interactive training with plenty of exercises to keep your mind active. You will be challenged!

Who Should Attend

All USCF Players and players who plan to attend the All grade Championships in Chicago November 13th. Players who may miss the All Grade may still want to attend as it's lessons can be applied at the Lakeview Scholastic November 27 and at tournaments all through the school year. All scholastic players will benefit from the workshop experience.
